Based on the Ikkitousen anime series, Eloquent Fist is a sidescrolling hack-and-slash for the PSP, released on the 2nd of October.

I don’t know exactly how to describe the genre of this game; Wiki calls it a “hybrid between fighting and adventure”, but my description is more accurate… sort of. To give you a better picture (pardon the pun):

Its like I said, a sidescrolling hack-and-slash, similar to those arcade games you find where you choose some Chinese character and bash your way through numerous enemies, beat a boss, and move on to the next stage.
There are two main modes that you can play; Story mode and Arcade mode. Story mode is divided into three parts, each with characters from the different schools. So far, I’ve only played the Nanyou Gakuin story; it was divided into 6 stages, though I’m not sure if all the three Stories are of same length. Arcade mode is divided into 7 stages. So far I’ve only completed Chouun Shiryuu’s Arcade mode, currently playing Kanu’s.
The four PSP buttons are assigned to Attack, Sweeping Attack, Burst Attack and Jump(I came up with those names as I don’t know the proper names for them
) . The right trigger makes your character run, the left trigger activates a temporary powerup buff. Each character generally has a standard attack combo (corrected by Ina), and an Attack+Sweeping combo. Sweeping Attacks do exactly as they say; they hit everything in front of the character within range and knocks enemies backwards. Burst Attacks hit enemies around the character and drains a little bit of health. The buff thing improves a character’s attack, but lasts only as long as the energy guage below the HP guage has anything in it.
There is also a Super attack, and an Ultimate attack (once again, names given by me), which does a large amount of damage to enemies on-screen. Super attacks take up 1/2 of your energy guage, whilst Ultimates take up 3/4 of the guage.
The game looks decent, plays quite well and is good for the general male (and minority of the female) population.

Nothing particularly special about the gameplay, its exactly the same as the arcade games. I’m only playing it for the fanservice; pantsu, ripped clothes, the staple of Ikkitousen. If you don’t like the arcade ones with the Chinese men and occasional woman-wrapped-like-a-dumpling, you may enjoy the fanservice, but if you’re one for gameplay, don’t expect too much.
Edit: I got my… ahem, permanent demo version here. ^^;
