Monster Hunter Orage

Posted in Anime/Manga/Figures on September 26, 2008 by malzias the bloodedge

Another manga by Mashima Hiro, Monster Hunter Orage is a mangafied version of the popular Monster Hunter series of games by Capcom.

Shiki and Irie

Shiki and Irie

The story follows Shiki, a Forbidden Hunter, as he searches for the legendary wyvern Miogaruna. He is an orphan trained by a Monster Hunter named Gurelli, who dies due to a gunpowder accident. Shiki inherits twin blades from his Master said to be made from materials obtained from the Miogaruna itself.

Shiki ends up in the town where his master resided to join the Hunter’s Guild there, and through a series of events finds Irie, his master’s daughter. Together they set out to find the Miogaruna.

Thus far 6 chapters are out. Shiki is shown to be the typical foolish-yet-skilled protagonist as seen by his use of dual swords. In the first few chapters Irie is seen to be rather cold, disliking the thought of having nakama(and Shiki’s constant proclamations of them being nakama). Later the reason for her dislike is revealed; she was betrayed by people she thought of as nakama, and henceforth never trusted anyone.

They also meet Sakuya, the daughter of a skilled blacksmith who joins them in their hunt. She is also skilled herself, constructing a bowgun from materials in a Deromaisu wyvern’s cave in the midst of a battle.

The three of them form a team and are looking for a blacksmith, and also to go after the Miogaruna.

Its somewhere along the lines of Fairy Tail. The story progresses with lots of funny happenings, and a similar emphasis on friendship and trust. Read it if you liked Fairy Tail, or are a fan of the MH series.

My dad’s been pretty anal about me on my laptop for the whole day, so I actually managed to find time and DRAW something. And this is what I got:

Pardon the pathetic quality, photo taken with my phone (SE W850i)

GCA 08

Before everything else… woo, first 1000 hits. Whoopee.

Went for the Games Convention Asia yesterday with Ina and Yumeno for the lulz. It was also supposed to be CosCon, but I think we missed that. Check out some of the cosplay pics at SGCafe’s cosplay pictures section here.

Didn’t take any photos, so have some Dizzy.

There wasn’t anything very eye-catching or remotely interesting (at least, to me). There were a few demos, a few games on free play, some new games on display. What I really wanted to see was omgwtfbbqhax godlike cosplayers.

I was only there for awhile, so didn’t see all the cosplayers, but the ones I saw were from the same old boring anime. Wish they’d realise seeing Naruto/Bleach/D.Grayman cosplayed 2837169862371 times is getting old, but I guess there’ll always be people who won’t. There was a decent Saber and Illya from F/SN, though.

More stuff at the other Team Blue blogs.

New header image + site banners

Posted in Other on September 20, 2008 by malzias the bloodedge

Yup, I put up a new header, still featuring Sol. Maybe one day I’ll get bored and change it, but til then he’s staying up there.

Also did a new site banner to add on to the somewhat plain one I had up with Order Sol. I hope no one gets a seizure ._.’

Went for the GCA today, I’ll do a post up tomorrow, my brain’s half asleep now.

Green Day

Posted in Other on September 19, 2008 by malzias the bloodedge

I’ve been browsing Youtube looking for music videos, and I’m hooked yet again on Billy Joe Armstrong’s vocals and the music of Green Day. Been listening to 2 songs in particular, “Haha you’re dead” and their cover of “Working Class Hero”, originally by John Lennon.

Any other Green Day fans out there? :D

Re: The Figure Wishlist

Posted in Anime/Manga/Figures on September 5, 2008 by malzias the bloodedge

I was reading Team Blue Banchou Panther’s blog just now, and I came across this post. In case you want the long story short/think his post is tl;dr, allow me to shorten it somewhat.

Companies making figures have to do research to make sure a figure will sell and if the series said character comes from is popular enough, and if the character itself is popular enough. Then they have to get licenses, do more research… Meaning they have to make sure anything they make will sell. Some characters, like the girls of Ikkitousen or Haruhi’s SOS Brigade, seem over-produced, whilst others get little to no attention, point of posting this being to shed some light on lesser known, but no less adored, characters.

After thinking about it, there are characters I’d like to see made into figures. I’ll also endeavour to name one character per series.

1. Dizzy from Guilty Gear

To my knowledge, there are no Dizzy figures out there, and I can’t help but wonder why… actually, it may be because GG isn’t really that popular a game; I mean, look at Mai, Blue Mary and Chun Li. They got figures ‘cuz KoF and Street Fighter are pretty well known. But the elitists and fanboys (like me) would definitely burn our pockets for a Dizzy figure.

I was actually thinking of Dizzy or Millia, but I decided I like Dizzy more :p (I’m not a lolicon, so May’s out of the question; Bridget is a trap; Baiken’s not my type.)

2. Asougi Rin from Mnemosyne

‘Cuz she’s from a mini-series done to celebrate the 10th anniversary of AT-X, I seriously doubt if there will ever be a figure of her,but I definitely would get her if she were released. It’d be cool if she were posed in the above position with the same clothes (mm, torn pants…), but I think I like her in her all-black suit with a bottle of vodka in hand.

3. Ragna the Bloodedge from Blazblue

I would have put Sol, the rabid fanboy that I am, but I promised to post only one character per series, so I’ll make do with Ragna here. Possibly the only male character I’d like to see a figure made, other than the aforementioned Badguy. Thus far there hasn’t been much art, and high quality screenshots are pretty hard to come by, but he’d look awesome using Infernal Divider (think Volcanic Viper/Shoryuuken)

4. Erza from Fairy Tail

My absolute fave from Fairy Tail (considering there are… 2, 3 main female characters?). The one thing that I like best about her is her red hair (which is why I love Kasumi from DoA and Igunis from Jingai Makyo) and her multiple armors. My favourite of her armors is the Flame Emperor’s armor, followed by the Knight armor. Best case scenario: exchangable armor. :D Multiple weapons would be cool too, since she can Ex-quip them at will :P

Yeah, that’s about it.
